The Inspiration Behind GetGravel.com

 

At GetGravel.com, we believe that getting landscaping materials should be safe, easy, and convenient for homeowners. Our journey began when we saw a major problem in the industry: large trucks delivering to residential homes were dangerous, wasteful, and destructive.

Traditional dump trucks—built for commercial jobs—were being used to deliver small loads to homeowners, but they weren’t suited for tight driveways or residential areas. These massive trucks often tore up driveways and lawns, clipped overhead power lines, and even damaged eavestroughs while backing into yards. On top of that, homeowners who tried to pick up materials themselves faced a frustrating experience—driving to multiple locations, getting loaded by machines that spilled product all over their tailgates, and even scratching their trucks.

We knew there had to be a better way.

The Beginning: A Business Built for Homeowners

Our journey started in 2013 under the name Island Cache Stone Company, with a simple mission:

• ✅ Deliver landscaping materials safely and precisely using smaller, more agile trucks.

• ✅ Provide a seamless, hassle-free experience for homeowners.

• ✅ Make picking up materials quick and easy with a dedicated drive-thru and pre-measured cubic yard buckets.

The first few years were full of learning experiences, but one thing became clear: homeowners valued reliability and safety over quick and cheap.

We listened to our customers and constantly improved, adding bagged products, launching our cubic yard bucket system, and pioneering an online store with satellite map pinning, so customers could mark exactly where they wanted their delivery placed.

Meet the Founder: Cory Klein, Chief Excellence Office

Cory Klein is an entrepreneur with a passion for creating and building outstanding businesses that serve the community. Growing up in a construction family with a legacy dating back to 1965 in Prince George, Cory was immersed in the world of business and problem-solving from a young age.

​

With a background in civil construction, landscaping and business development, he founded GetGravel.com to solve a major issue in the industry—providing homeowners with safe, precise, and hassle-free access to landscaping materials. His commitment to innovation, outstanding service, and thinking outside the box has helped transform GetGravel.com into a growing success.

​

Beyond business, Cory is a dedicated family man. He is happily married to his beautiful wife, Sydney, and together they have three amazing daughters: Emma, Lylah, and Blake. When he's not working to expand GetGravel.com, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, staying active, and continuously pushing himself to grow as a business leader and entrepreneur.

His long-term vision is to "GetGravel" to every community in Canada, making landscaping projects easier and more accessible for homeowners everywhere.

Growing & Innovating

As the business grew, so did our vision. We saw a huge increase in demand, especially during COVID when garden soil sales doubled as more people invested in their outdoor spaces. In response, we rebranded to GetGravel.com, a name that reflects our passion: delivering high-quality gravel, soil, mulch, and stone to every homeowner in Canada with outstanding service.

Our driver didn’t just drop the soil—he helped clear the way, opened gates, maneuvered carefully, and even leveled out the soil so the customer could start planting immediately.
